Well this is one for the books! Emily and Seth planned an incredible destination wedding in Colorado. They wanted to get married in a place that really shows God’s beautiful creation! They chose to have their wedding at one of my favorite venues, Mount Vernon Canyon Club in Golden, CO.

Since this sweet couple is from Texas, we planned to shoot their engagement session a few days before their wedding. The two of them road tripped out to Colorado together. We had such a great time at their engagement session, complete with epic mountain views! They love hiking together, adventure, and serving others. I love how engagement sessions give me a chance to get to know my ES couples. I learned that they met doing ministry together, and that Seth proposed to Emily on a mountain top in Asia!

It had been warm, beautiful weather all week, but the day of their wedding a thick fog and some light rain came in. One thing you can always count on in Colorado is that the weather will keep us on our toes! I was so glad we got those mountain view engagement photos for them, as the mountains were a big reason why they chose Colorado. I was a little worried they would be disappointed with the weather, but when Seth saw Emily for the first time on their wedding day he asked her, “are you ready to marry me in the clouds?” It brought me to tears. It was just such a testament to their character, their outlook on life, and their willingness to celebrate all that is good even when things don’t quite go according to plan.

We started the day with detail photos and getting ready photos. I just loved that Emily did a first look with her bridesmaids! Their expressions were priceless! The bride and groom then shared their first look, taking some time to read letters they had written to each other. I just love first looks on wedding days as it gives the couple some time just to themselves to really soak in the reality of what is happening.

We went outside to take their portraits and I absolutely loved the way the fog gave their images this breathtaking, ethereal quality! It was just incredible! I also brought clear umbrellas for the couple and the bridal party to keep them dry in the light rain. They photographed so cute!

Then it was on to their ceremony out on the deck! I loved that the couple chose to do a foot washing ceremony, symbolizing their willingness to serve each other the way Christ serves us, with humility and unconditional love. They shared an epic first kiss as husband and wife, and then Seth scooped up his bride and carried her down the aisle!

Their reception was beautiful, complete with toasts, first dances, and a cake cutting! I love that they had all of their guests come up for one big group picture! Then they opened up the dance floor and oh boy, was it a good party. It was one of the best dance parties I’ve seen in a long time! At the end of the night, Seth and Emily shared a private last dance. This has become one of my favorite wedding traditions! Then all of their guests sent them off with light up tambourines which was so fun!

Emily and Seth, it was such a joy meeting you two and being a small part of telling your love story. I am so glad you decided to start your journey together as husband and wife in Colorado. I know the Lord has big plans for you two! Thank you for trusting me to capture your beautiful wedding in the clouds!
