Winter Wedding at The Broadmoor | Amy & Shannon

Weddings

December 6, 2022

I met Amy last year when she and her daughter Sara booked a family session with me. I was thrilled when Amy emailed me to let me know that she met the love of her life, Shannon, and that they were engaged! With the help of SK Events, they planned an incredible winter wedding at the historic Broadmoor Hotel. I was so incredibly humbled that Amy and Shannon chose me to capture their day! When I first met with Amy and Shannon to talk about their wedding plans, Shannon told me that he used to photograph weddings. It is always such an honor being trusted by a fellow photographer! I was so excited that they chose The Broadmoor for their winter wedding, as it is one of my favorite venues.

The day started in the lovely bridal suite where Amy had her hair and makeup perfected by the beauty team from The Day On Location Beauty. She looked absolutely stunning! One of my favorite moments was when her daughter Sara helped her zip up her dress! Amy then shared a first look with her Father, which was such a sweet moment. Then Amy and Shannon shared their first look. Shannon’s expression said it all when he saw his bride!

Then we went outside for their bride and groom portraits around the beautiful grounds of The Broadmoor. I just loved the epic shots in front of the hotel, and the beautiful view of the lake and the mountains! It was a photographers dream! We also were able to do some portraits inside the Broadmoor which tuned out to be some of favorites of the day. Then we headed to the Broadmoor Cheyenne Lodge for their beautiful outdoor ceremony. Amy’s father walked her down the aisle and the couple shared their vows. Amy, Shannon and their 3 children, Sara, Chloe and Jackson poured different colored glass beads into a single jar. The beads will be melted down and turned into a work of art for them to enjoy, symbolizing their unity as a family. I thought this was so unique and meaningful!

After the ceremony, we were able to get a few sunset portraits out on the deck which were just beautiful. Then it was on to the reception! The tables, florals, and reception details were absolutely stunning. Amy’s father shared a beautiful speech, honoring Amy’s mother who is no longer with them. It was so heartfelt and had everyone in tears. I think my favorite part of the day was listening to the toasts given by their daughters, family and bridal party. It was so evident that Amy and Shannon are incredible people who have dedicated their lives to God and to making this world a better place. They have touched so many lives and are so very loved by all who know them.

The newlyweds shared their first dance, cut their cake, and danced the night away with all of their guests! It was an amazing day, full of so much love, joy, and glory to God. Amy and Shannon, I wish you both every blessing as you being your lives together! Congratulations!!!

xoxo, Elena

We headed to the Cheyenne Lodge for their ceremony and reception.

The reception details were absolutely gorgeous!

It was chilly after the ceremony, but it was so worth it for these sunset portraits!
