I am so excited to share some of my favorite images from this maternity session at Dawson Butte. A little over two years ago, I met Heather when she was pregnant with her baby girl, Olivia. I photographed her maternity and newborn sessions, and it was one of those pivotal moments in my career. All of the years I spent learning, growing and refining my style, that first maternity session with Heather was when all the pieces finally felt like they fit together in the way I had been imagining for so long. She shared my vision, our aesthetics matched perfectly, and the art we created together was a dream come true for me.
When Heather reached out to let me know she was expecting baby number three, I was overjoyed to be able to continue to document their growing family! We met at Dawson Butte in Castle Rock for her maternity session, and as we got out of our cars, little Oliva RAN up to me and gave me the biggest hug. I haven’t seen her since I photographed her as a newborn, but her little spirit must have remembered me. It was the most precious moment. It’s little things like that that make being a photographer so special. Being invited into my clients’ lives again and again to capture their stories and see their children grow is such a privilege!
One of my favorite moments was when big brother Collin started picking wildflowers to give to his baby sister. It was so special to see their bond as siblings. They really love each other, and it was so precious to witness. I can’t wait to meet their newest little sister in just a few weeks for her newborn session!
